As this car has gotten older, the power and acceleration are showing it's age and can be a little sluggish at times, but that has only developed in the last year or so. I'm not a huge fan of the gas mileage, but it's pretty good considering the car is 15 years old. When I have had issues with it, the parts are common enough that it has not taken too much time to get it fixed. I have had to do very little maintenance, other than routine things, and the car has about 150,000+ miles on it. There is enough headroom that my boyfriend, who is 6'5", is able to sit comfortably in all seats of the van. I have used it to drive seven adults, including several men over 6 ft., to the mountains and around Asheville for a weekend. In addition to cargo space, it is great for driving around groups of people. It has a great turn radius for a vehicle of this size. It is large enough that I was able to pack all my stuff in it (and on the roof rack) and move across the country, but it handles like a much smaller car. I wonder if I would have enjoyed it more if it had been better maintained before we got it. There was a problem with the electrical system causing fuses to blow and systems (radio, power locks, charger) to stop working.

Not long after we got it the alternator needed to be replaced. The MPV was used when we got it and needed catch-up maintenance, including power steering flush, transmission flush, alignment, windshield wipers. The visibility was good with lots of big windows. Some of the most comfortable car seats I can remember. I can't even remember exactly what it took to put the seats back up. There were two different handles to pull to get the seat to fold over then drop down into the space. The headrests had to be removed, and they didn't come out easily. It was never easy for me to transform the back from seating to cargo space. The cargo space was great for hauling sports gear and camping equipment. The third row seating came in handy many times. I like the size and style of the Mazda MPV.
